After inserting a blank CD of any type or make the system does not recognise
the CD> It is as if there is no cd in the drive as it states that there is no
available space nor any used section on the CD. In asking to write work to
cd, it reports that there is no cd in the drive. Help please!

First, are you sure you have a CD burner, and not just a CD reader?

Second, if you're sure it's a burner, are you using the right type of blank
CD (CDR, CDRW) for your drive?

Third, what program are you trying to use to write to the CD drive? The
built-in windows program? A third party program? If you're just trying to
write to the CD drive the same way you'd write to a diskette or hard drive,
that won't work.

Does the CD drive read any other type of CD?.. music, pics etc?.. if it
doesn't, get a CD cleaner disc and try that.. if still no luck, buy a new
drive.. they do not last forever..

The cd drive works perfectly using Nero. It will write to a blank CD. But I
cannot get the computer to recognise a blank CD when it states that there are
files waiting to burnt and the wizard reports that there is no CD in the
drive, but there is.It continues to read any written CD like a music CD. It
worked perfectly until recently. I have tried cleaning the lasers but there
is no change. Help still needed please.
