I cannot find any freeware that makes simple CD to CD copies (without ripping the tracks then copying them again on the
new CD) like it is implemented in Nero or Easy CD Creator. Does anyone know of such a program?

I wish there was one..... I often do CDRW > CDR copying (backups of software
etc) and find it a pain when the software copies it to the hard drive first
(though, this does save a little time).

I'm currently just using XP Pro's built in burner until I find a better one
(CD Burner XP Pro isn't very good)

I tried that one a few months ago and couldn't get it to actually "do"
anything.... other than crash my PC.

Yup, burnatonce is the best, it's all i use anymore.
Greg.

Agreed it's the best. However, it hasn't been updated in quite some time
now. I'm worried it will be abandoned like a lot of nice Freeware.

I wouldn't worry. It doesn't seem possible to download it from the
"official" site anyway. You just keep getting referred to a page
"Shotgun Error" and that's the end of it!

Cheers, Phred.

Actually the download site works fine. Just have to follow the
instructions. For me it was blocking referrers. Once enabled the
download worked.

ShotGun Error

To protect our bandwidth an Anti-Leech Script is used, please
ensure the following:

* Please left click the links that appear on burnatonce.com
* Temporarily disable your download manager
* Disable programs that block the referrer (Norton AV,
Webwasher etc.)

Did that.

Don't use one. (Do I need one? Why?)
* Disable programs that block the referrer (Norton AV,
Webwasher etc.)

They can get lost -- not disabling AV programs just because some
unknown site on the other side of the world demands it!

What's a "referrer" anyway?

But thanks very much for your interest, WingNut.

Despair not, you can download the proggy here, all the 4287351 bytes of
it!

http://planetmirror.com/pub/majorgeeks/backup/bao099b.exe

I just downloaded it Jan 22 :)

I also like to add that I like the program DeepBurner which has a
better interface and I have used that program to burn several data
CDs. No coaster yet (touch wood!)

Perhaps someone will tell me here what way BurnAtOnce is better than
other free (for personal use) CD burn utils.

Mainly the history and faith we have in the authors (Jamieo)
commitment to no-crap (personal use) freeware.

It is a good CUE/BIN burner, the file compilation bit (at least in
it's current form) is quite recent.

Mind you, it beats me how BAO is >4Mb, while Deepburner is <2Mb

The only real drawback to deepburner is the licence confusion - not
checked the latest, but the previous version still included a
"typical spyware" licence, even though they assure everyone that it is
not so - it may have its weaknesses, but deepburner is, IMHO, the best
replacement for "ordinary" CD burning software if you didn't get any
with your burner.

Burn4free has a nasty bit of "navhelper" foistware with it, and
CD Burner XP Pro is just flaming HUGE
http://hem.bredband.net/cdburnerxp/ - an 8 Mb download, I believe it
was last time.
It is in development though, and the worst of the bugs are now shaken
out

Oh yeah, that speaks a lot.

On DeepBurner, someone who subscribes to the forum clarified that the
author/s have confirmed there that DB is indeed freeware in spite of
what is stated in the software package. It is feared that once it
reaches the version 2 level it may become shareware.

On bloats, I do consider BAO is bloat 'compared' to DB. It may look
funny is these days of extra large, cheap disk drives-but then I am in
love with DOS and still adore some wonderful programs that are in the
kb range :-)
