I need something to copy a CD directly to a CDR, and of course, it must be
freeware.

The only one that can do that is Sony CD Extreme (not EXACTLY freeware, but
free enough or me :)

I think you can use DeepBurner to burn an iso image, and then burn that
image to a disk. Will that work for what you want?

If I wanted to do it that way, I could:

[Windows XP]

1. Start Windows Explorer
2. Select disc in source drive
3. Select All.
4. Send To (destination drive)
5. Open destination disc with "Files Ready to be Written to the CD"
6. Choose "Write these files to CD" (starts CD Writing Wizard)
7. Input title for destination disc.
8. CD Writing Wizard writes temp files to CD.

With CloneCD, I could just:

1. Select source drive
2. Select destination drive
3. Choose Audio CD or Data CD
4. Source disc copied directly to destination disc.

There are mainstream burning programs that won't? Surely whatever program
came with your CD-RW drive will. If not, see the links in my dandies for
CDExtreme/RecordNow.

InCD came with my CD-RW drive. It never worked right.

CDExtreme/RecordNow.

I'll check 'em out.

That's Nero's packet writing program, not a mastering one. Use the regular
Nero which you should also have.

I don't see anything about copying a CD.

Too bad there's no freeware version of CloneCD. That one's pretty straight
forward.
I contacted Deepburner and suggested they implemented a clone cd
feature. This was there response:

"Yes thanks, we are going to implement direct disk-to-disk copy feature
in foreseeable future."

So, hopefully deepburner will have this feature soon.
