Hello,

I've had Windows XP Home Edition for about a year now. Recently I was on my friends computer and noticed that he had certain things on Windows XP that I didn't on my version. He could burn CD directly from the Windows Explorer window without passing through another program (RecordNow, etc). Also different taskbar issues and things like that.

I was wondering if these we're updates that were introduced on a later version on Windows XP and if I can get my hands on it???

Thanks!

Open XP's "Help and Support" and type: CD RECORDING , and hit enter.
Then click on the task: "Copy files and folders to a CD".

Those are just matters of how you have your options set-up. CD burning
capability is available in all XP editions, maybe with the exception of the
64 bit edition, I don't know about that, it would not apply to you anyway.

Post back to this thread and tell us what you would like to do with your PC
and, someone will help you get it going the way you want it.

Thanks for the support but theres still nothing.

As soon as I get to the step to Copy the selected files to the Writable CD Folder (which in my case doesn't exist) It asks me insert a CD, which I don't want to do. I simply want it to send it to the Writable CD Folder to be burnt at a leter time. It seems that it isn't even an option on my computer.

When I bought the computer XP was already installed and the burner as well. It came with RecordNow software to do the burning. I've got an HP DVD/CD-RW writer 300n, that came with the computer.

Using XP's built-in burning tool, here's the way I see it - if the drive
is RECORD enabled (right-click|choose PROPERTIES|RECORD tab)...

Right-click|DRAG and DROP a file from the righthand Explorer pane to the
CD drive letter, and it is copied to the drive's directory (folder).

Later, place a CD in the tray, then right-click on the CD drive letter and
choose
WRITE THESE FILES TO CD, and they are written.

Is that not the way it works for you?
