Whenever I attempt to create a "New folder" on a CD-RW. I get the following
message.

"Unable to create the folder. Access Denied"

I get this message whether I burn the disc using XPs own software, Drag'n
Drop and now Nero 6.

I was under the impression that on a rewriteable CD I could treat it like a
hard disk.
What do I need to do or where do I need to look to sort this out. How do I
get access?

Thanks
Adam

You need to use InCD, a part of Nero Burning Rom, to format a CD-RW disk for
packet writing, or UDF format. You can then treat the cd just like a 700 MB
floppy disk, dragging and dropping files and folders to and from it. Check
out the help files in your copy of Nero 6 or go to their website.

This function requires packet writing and XP does not support that function
natively. This requires third party software such as the Drag to Disk
component of Easy CD Creator, www.roxio.com or the InCD component of Nero,
www.nero.com.

Check the web sites for version compatibility with XP as well as compatible
CD-Writers.

Hi Kevin

Thanks for your quick response ;-)

1. I am using InCD
2. Not much on their website or help files
3. emailed Nero support

I was wondering whether the problem could be something more basic as I
havent been able to drag and drop with any of the other burning software I
have used.

Do you have the latest version of Nero or, at least a version compatible
with XP and any new updates? Have you tried removing and reinstalling the
software?

Be sure latest version of INCD is installed.

You have to format the cdrw media with INCD for it to be usable. XP has a
built-in udf reader that may have to be disabled before installing INCD.

Thanks everyone for the 101 in packet writing. Now it all makes sense.

All the best
