cd burning fails

I have quite a few issues concerning the cd burning on
XP. It does not work at all for me and I have tried all
the fixes. I don't know what caused the problem. I can
save files to the cd staging area but the cd writer
wizard tells me there is no disk in the drive. The drive
is enabled for cd burning but under the autoplay
properties for the drive icon the "blank cd" option is
not available. My 3rd party cd burning program RecordNow
tells me there is no recordable rewritable device on my
system. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall my cd-
rom drivers but no difference. Does anyone have help for
me
