Check device manager to see if your PC is recognizing your CD-R drive, check that the proper drivers are installed, and check for resource conflicts. If it is not recognized, check to make sure the SCSI or EIDE data cable is seated correctly to the rear of the CD-R and where the data cable connects to the motherboard. If it is plugged-in correctly and still not working, try a new IDE cable (cost ranges from $1 to $7)
