My computer is only three months old and I can't get it to burn a cd. It
inspects and converts the songs, then starts to burn, and then stops. Then I
will get the message that it cannot burn the cd and I should either lower the
burn speed or try a different brand of cds. I've put the burn speed on the
lowest possible setting and I've tried different brands of cd, but it never
works. Any idea why?

You could look for updated firmware for the drive.... and even though it's
only 3 months old, if you don't want it fixed under guarantee, at this point
I'd probably be looking for a new drive... and made it a DVD-RW one...
something like:

or
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827151118

I don't have experience with the Lite-On drive but can happily say that the
Samsung does everything it's supposed to as it's the one in my husband's PC
(built by me). I have:

(but it doesn't do LightScribe which is a very cool feature)

It's the Windows Media Player. Its a CD and DVD-RW. Is there a brand of
CD-R's that is considered the best.

Laura, do not post on someone elses post, create/start your own.
And what digital player are you referring to?
