I cannot get my computer to recognize, let alone allow my
cd burner to function. I have switched jumpers, settings
on the ide cable, etc...

I did notice that when I began Windows in safe mode, that
XP recognized my burner. However, it won't function in
safe mode.

Help!!!

Hi Chad,
In admin tools> services do you have IAMPI CD-Burning COM
Service enabled? If not set it to either automatic or
manual, Good luck

Rich, thanks, but on the Yamaha 3200EZ webpage it says it
the burner is compatible with WinXp

The IMAPI was set on manual. I changed it to automatic,
shut down the comp., installed the burner again,
rebooted, and this time I showed no CD Rom drive nor the
cd burner. When I disconnect the burner my comp.
recognizes the CD rom, but not burner still.....

HEELLLLPPPPPP!!!!!!!!

If you check the Yamaha web site there is a firmware upgrade for this drive.
and instructions are included in the zip file

Firmware Version: 1.0d - File name: a3210d_e.exe

I had a similar issue with a HP drive and a specific firmware revision was
required to be stable in Win 2000/XP

Good luck

Rob
