Dean S.

I recently created a CD based website per Microsoft's instructions. The CD
was created on my desktop (win98) with MS FrontPage and runs just fine when
I reinsert it into my desktop's drive.

However, when I insert it into my laptop's CD drive (winXP), I can hear and
feel the CD spin up to speed, but it never launches a browser.

Any thoughts on why it works on one system and not the other?

OK, I give up... Doesn't XP provide some way to enable autorun without
changing the registry manually?!

Any idea what that .exe file should be??

According to a MicroSoft White Paper on creating disk based webs, the only files
necessary in the root directory are index.htm and an autorun.inf file that
points to the index.htm file.

I have a link saved, but I'll have to reboot into the other os
because it's saved in my other inbox.

Steve-

Thanks! I'll check it out.

FYI, there is also a lot of information on Microsoft's website concerning using
an autorun.inf file with XP. A LOT. It's nowhere near as simple as win98.

I've read all of those, believe me.
And yes, it is totally different in xp.
It seems that sometimes an autorun.inf
with:
shellexecute:index.htm
will work and sometimes not.
More often not.!!
