Can anyone help me.
I can no longer play Audio CDs or run CDroms through my pc. I can however run DVDs ok. I've cheched with the device manager and everything reads as running ok.
I suspect that the file "aaudio.dll" is missing and I do not know how to re-install this file.
Help

Based on your posting 10 minutes following this one it appears that your
CD-ROM software is not up to scratch. Perhaps you need to uninstall and
reinstall the software.

Karn, Which windows operating system are you using? Are you saying you
don't have the system recovery CDs that contains the system image and
installed hardware drivers? Do you know the manufacturer of the CD/DVD
drive? The model information? As much information as you can supply to the
newsgroup will help us determine what options are available to you to solve
your problem. Lugia

I'm using Windows XP Home edition.
I have restore disks but I'm worried that I'll lose all of my files if I use it, and I have some precious photos, that I hadn't got round to putting onto disk, on my hard drive.I don't mind losing the other files, but not the pictures. I have tried to put them onto disk but that function is not working either. I've even tried opening a folder on my desktop, placing the files there and trying to copy them to the disk. However I get the message "Please insert a writable disk".Obviously I am using writable disks for files and CDRs for music. It would appear that my computer has lost the ability to read any type of disk other than DVD.
I've also tried to install "NERO" CD burning software, but my PC can't read that either!!!

I have a Samsung SM-308B CD/DVD Drive.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again
P.S. Everything else on my pC is working absolutely fine

with windows media player and dvd's with dvd pro, but no data cd's yet
For drivers you can search the web or go to manufacturers website an
download the drivers to reinstall them. I your windows version i
missing a file you should be able to reload the file from th
installation cd or do a repair installation with win xp. Hope some o
