When I leave my computer idle for more than 30 minutes the Illegal Operation box is up on the screen with Ccap in the upper left corn of the box. I click ok, it closes but the whole system is frozen. I cannot even restart it normally I have to hit the reset button on the computer. I am still using Win 98 op system. I also have Adware and Norton Antivirus System Works 2005. Is there anyone here that would mind giving me info on what to do? I would be very grateful.

Thank You,

Lani

It possibly could be your Anti-Virus that's causing it, i'm not 100% sure so i'd wait until someone else confirms or deny this.

But i would uninstall and reinstall Norton.

CCAP.EXE is a Norton file ... however, there are Trojans that can attack 'ccap.exe' in an attempt to disable your anti-virus.

Look in your registry ...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\microsoft\windows\currentversion\runservices
... for "SYDNEY"

Check your "C:\Windows\System" folder for capp.EXE (note the spelling) ... update your Noton
using Live Update and run a scan. Better still, pop along to "House Call" and do an on-line scan.

If you do not have a Trojan/Virus/Spyware or any other "nastie" consider uninstaling/reinstalling Norton ... or dump it for something a little less intrusive.
