Ccannot add anything to storyboard or timeline

I am running MM2.1 v5.1 on a Fujitsu Amilo notebook, Athlon 64 4000+, 240MHz,
1Gb RAM, XP Home SP2 (fully updated)...but..I cannot seem to add anything
(jpg, mpg, avi) to the storyboard or timeline. I have set up my collections,
and I can view in the preview pane. I have tried draging, copying, CTRL-D -
but nothing works.

I have used MM2 OK on a different computer. Am I missing somthing?? Can
anyone help please.

Mpg's hardly ever work, jpegs can be a problem and you don't say what sort
of avi it is. dv-avi is the only one which works well, other ones like divx,
xvid etc can cause problems.

Try using the wmv files in "My Videos" which come with xp, to see if they
work.

Thanks - I think it is a harware or system issue, since the same jpegs and
mpegs work fine on another computer - desktop XP home, 512Mb, with lesser
graphics...???

If you got the MPG's to work on another computer running MM2.1 then count
yourself lucky because Graham is correct they "almost" never work.
