i am a great believer in keeping my system secure. How do i get through to my
collegues that sending emails to more than one person ( in this case 30+ ) as
CC is detrimental to security and should be sent as BCC.

On a related note, how do you keep users from entering their email address in
every Greeting Card, Joke of the Day, Search Tool, and Free Coupon site in
the world?

i agree with your sentiments but there should be a way to instil in colleges
what potential damage they could do by using CC and not BCC to send the
"stupid" emails.

How about "we catch you doing it and you're fired."? There is rarely a good
technological solution to a behavioral problem.

thank you brian for the inspiration to get rid of all my collegues, i dont
think that would help.
What i was looking at was that some 30+ people now new my email address and
that if one of them was stupid enough not to have anti-virus installed and
became infected and every one on his / her address book could be come
infected which could become exponential.
i think what my question is realy asking is if emails are sent using BCC
could a virus on one machine be transmitted to another PC if the addresses's
where hidden in the first instance.

That can't happen if each of those 30+ people use decent AV programs.

There is no difference in that regard between using To, Cc, or Bcc.

thank you for your reply, it would seem that "BCC" only hides the addressess
from the recipient of the email but the "BCC" addressess are still there even
if they cannot be seen. now i am very dishartened!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
