it says "e:\winnt\system32\drivers\cbid.sys device driver
could nto be loaded error status was 0x000012f". I'm on a
T1 connection at school and this error started appearing
all of a sudden after each reboot of the machine and it
would not let me log on to Windows 2000. I could only log
on if i log off my account and then logged back on and
then it would not freeze. Shortly after this error my
internet connection went dead. The modem works and it's as
if the OS doesn't recognize the internet access. Windows
repair doesn't work and said is incompatible with my
partition setup. Neither does Windows reinstall and i
don't want to wipe my harddrive. any suggestions?

Check Event Viewer and Device Manager for errors and or non-starting
devices.

cbidf2k.sys is the PCMCIA driver that comes with Windows. CBID.sys is
associated with Central Brain ID (a utility for viewing internal AMD
processor info).

I would recommend that you browse to the file and check the version info to
see where that driver came from. If it is the PCMCIA driver, then that
would explain the loss of network connectivity.

Also, that error means that the image (i.e. the file) is invalid.
