Hi
My screen starting freezing within minutes of getting it turned on. I was
trying to download a game from some site, which I can't remember where it
was. Then the problem started so we could not use the computer. I went
through the msconfig and it happened at start up. I added each was as stated
from notes I had until the one called cavtray then it froze. I have left it
unticked and everything is fine. Do I need to delete this one and how would
I do it, as my computer is on selective start up. What is it for the cavtray
and would I be able to get it back to normal start-up. I don't know too much
about the computer but can follow basic instructions, any help would be
great, Thank you.

Information gotten by Googling for "CAVTray.exe":

CAVTray.exe is a process associated with the eTrust EZ Antivirus suite
from Computer Associates. This process should not be removed to ensure
that your system security is not breached.

Since you are having problems with your antivirus, you should continue
to troubleshoot. Make sure you have the latest version of EZ-AV. It
would be smart to do some other virus/malware scanning. See this link
for instructions:
http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

If the computer is clean, you might want to uninstall/reinstall EZ-AV.
Otherwise, you'll need to get tech support for that product from
Computer Associates. I hate to tell you that because their support
sucks, but the issue is either that your computer is infested with
something that is breaking EZ-AV or there is a problem with the program
itself.
