Causing BSOD

Hello

I want to cause a BSOD (blue screen of death) by using the keys
CTRL+2xSCROLL to get a BSOD+memory dump if the system hangs.
I set the Registry Key under
HKLM\System\CCS\Services\i8042prt\Parameters\CrashOnCtrlScroll=1. This should
activate the PS/2 Keyboard driver to perform this task. I tried it under
WinXP, and it works fine.
Under WinXP Embedded i only get a blank black screen and the system stops.
The XP and XPe-keyboard-drivers (i8042prt.sys) are identical.
Does anybody have a solution?

regards
Andreas

Hello Andreas,

The XPe system needs the dump driver in order to create a successful crash
dump. Could this be missing from your image? The component is called "Disk
Dump Drivers" and contains diskdump.sys which is the driver used to write
out the dump file. The components visibility to low so if you can't see it
when searching in Target Designer lower your visibility to 100 in Tools >
Options > Advanced menu of Target Designer.

HTH,
Brad

Hi Brad,

thanks for your post. I got the dump file after i set a fix path (instead of
%systemdrive%) in the system control panel.
And now i can see the blue screen information (instead of the black screen).
There was something wrong with the graphics driver component.
