Is there a way to automatically load email addresses of the same category
into a single email distribution list? I have about 120 contacts all with
the same category name and want to set them up in a distribution list for
group emailing. I'm hoping to avoid having to individually select their
names when building the distribution list.

thanks.

There is a way, but not really much need to do so since your Categories can
function as a DL and are far more reliable.
Use a By Category view of your Contacts Folder. Click on the Category Header
Actions > New Message to Contact...
You've done the same thing as a DL would do. And you can update your
Contacts. With DL's, if you update the Contact, the DL won't reflect the
changes.

You don't need to build a distribution list if you already
have them in categories.

Open Outlook
Select your Contacts folder
Select the VIEW menu
Select BY CATEGORY view
Highlight the header of the category(s) you want to send
mail to
Then select the ACTIONS menu
Select NEW MESSAGE TO CONTACT

Outlook will open a new message and address it to
everyone in the selected category(s).

thanks but that puts all the names into the "To:" section - can they be put
into the "BCC" section automatically?

No, but cut and paste to another field is not very difficult.

It you initiate a mail merge it will send them individually for the whole
group.
