I have been unable to get any driver to install for my 9800 Pro AW. I
have run the uninstall from control panel as well as the ATI uninstall
program. The old driver is video driver is gone. The card ran fine but
a driver upgrade was overdue. When I run any of the recent Catalyst it
runs until the splash screen the stops with an 0x80040707 error.
Running the driver install separately I get "d11 function call crash
Islamer. IsLIsATIcard" Any suggestions ???

It happened to me too when I installed Catalyst 5.10 for my new Radeon X800.
You need to create a "Desktop" folder in Documents and Settings\All
Users: weird but it works!

Doesn't a standard install of XP already have a "c:\documents and
settings\all users\desktop" folder by default?

No, I don't think so... at least not on mine.
"All Users" it's a folder used to store settings shared for all the
Windows users, but I don't think you can share a desktop.

Programs install shortcuts there so they are viewable on every user's
desktop. \All Users\Documents are the Shared documents on a WinXP machine.
It's the same for \All Users\Start Menu, so that it appears in every user's
start menu...

Many thanks for your suggestions. The path to User\Documents was
intact. I checked the registry listing using the links below and all
seemed in order: however the problem still exists. Despite this I still
get the 0x80040707 error! !
