Catalyst VS controlpanel

Hello
I have installed another version (3.7) of catalyst drivers, over the 3.10
(newer) ones. It works fine. However, do I need to install controll panel
from 3.7 as well? Or is it ok with new panel?
I mean generally, is there any performance gain/lose by changing ATI
controlpanel (while using same catalyst version)?
 
I think the 3.7 CP had keystroke problems, messed with scroll lock and certain combinations
