Probably because it's not a robust feature. Games with real-time shadows
(Doom 3, Far Cry, BF2, etc.) cannot use any sort of dynamic geometry because
the shadows will not match the object. The few games that support Trueform
(Serious Sam, Quake II, etc.) apply curvature to items that should be flat,
so you end up with e.g. a railgun shaped like a balloon.
I didn't know this. I'm using cat 5.8's and I like em. I also like truform.
It definitely does make HL2 look more vibrant. Textures look cleaner and I
always enabled truform. Kinda sucks they removed it.
Textures look cleaner? Trueform acts only on geometry. Unless the game
interacts with the increased polygonal complexity, textures shouldn't be
affected.
