Is anyone experiencing instability problem on Win XP /Pro SP1 after
installing this drive ?
Thanks

No, stable is fine but do seem slower than the old 7.x drivers I upgraded
from under 98SE, under XP stable but games are slower than under 98SE ???

works fine for me
powercolor 9700pro
batron 2500+
1 gig ddr 3200 ram
biostart m7ncd pro

Both COD and Jedi Knight Academy don't run under 98SE w/my 9800 Pro and
catalyst 4.3.

And how. I made the mistake of including the latest ATI drivers during
my last WindowsUpdate, after 18 months with zero problems under
Catalyst 3.7. Now my machine will only boot 1 time in 10. Same thing
with the real 4.3 drivers downloaded from ATI's website. I'm now in
the middle of repairing my machine and reverting to 3.7, and I'm
incredibly pissed off.

The strange thing is the 4.3 drivers seem to work fine with an
absolutely pristine WinXP Pro SP1 install, and only when I install my
scanner drivers (I think) does it all go pear-shaped.

Not instability...........just inability
The inability to start my LCD monitor after a reboot with a digital
connection.
I need to plug both analog and digital in for the system to recognise my
monitor.
If I do not it displays a "no digital signal" message and my monitor goes
beddy bye.
I have had this problem since driver version 4.0 without any of the ATI
support staff being able to solve it.

No problems here other than the fact it seems a little slower, and I still
suffer from slow boot-ups... at least until I remove the ati2evxx.dll in
system32 directory... boots up fine then... have had to do this since 3.7

I can't get 3DMark2003 to get past the Troll test (number 3 I think)
with Win98 & 4.3s.
With 4.2s - no problems.

I think there is a page at the ATI site about a potential instability
with something they call Large System Cache setting I think in WinXP - I
don't remember this precisely, but maybe look for this term.

I had that problem, it took me ages to find out what it was. I formatted a
perfectly good OS, lost my mail/settings and docs. the new installation
fixed it all, then when rebuilding the new OS to how I like it, I enabled
large system caching again, crashing my pc. it took a pc gaming forum to
tell me it was this. I lost an otherwise perfectly good installation over
this.

It's interesting you say this. I'm using W2k SP4 without that option
enabled (I think you can enable it in the Registry in W2k by setting the
LargeSystemCache option to 1) and had Lomac (Lock On Modern Air Combat)
installed on a 180 GB disc.

Sometimes after playing Lomac, that discs file systems would be
corrupted, even partitions lying before or after the partition Lomac was
on, and even when these partitions had different file systems (NTFS and
FAT32).

I couldn't find out what the problem was, but suspected that perhaps
Windows has a problem with the big disc (although it shouldn't have) and
tried a smaller, 120 GB disc.

Since I switched to that 120 GB disc, the problems are gone, I haven't
had a problem since then.

I'd reported this on the Lomac forums but seemed to be the only one
seeing this.

After the reports about the 4.3 I thought may I was seeing something
similar. I was having it with older driver versions, but who knows.
