Dr Teeth

Using the Omega version of the drivers.

GTA Vice City locks up soon after a game has started (5-10 secs) and
VPU recover kicks in.

The hardware cannot be reinitialised unless I reboot, according to the
dialogue box.

Am I the only one with this problem? All other games are okay.

Cheers,

Guy

I just updated my drivers from ATI's Cat 3.7's to Omega's 4.1's.
I hadn't tried Vice City since upgrading so after seeing your post I
decided to try it. First of all, it runs fine. The only thing I did
notice was that it had defaulted back to 800x600. So some of your
settings may have changed. I set it back to 11x8 which is where I
think I had it. But you know what? It still looks bland after
playing NFS Underground for so long. !
I always thought GTA VC looked so good too. NOT! :)
By the way. I'm running ME so YMMV.

Thanks for the reply. Will reinstall after messing with some settings.

Cheers,

Guy

GTA runs fine here on Catalyst 4.1 (9800 pro, P4 3.06ghz, WinXP Pro, ABIT
IC7), maybe you need to completely uninstall previous drivers and reinstall
4.1.

It runs at 1024x764 but hangs at my preferred resolution of 1154x864.
I can reproduce this.

I have also noticed at the 1024 resolution, the headlights are lit on
the car at the beginning of the game, but not at 1152!

Oops, the 4.2's are out now, try those.
All okay again. problem not mentioned in the fixes section of the
driver's readme.

Maybe it's your Monitor drivers. Or your refresh rate setting.

a) These would affect *all* games.

b) These would not cause the problems I described.
