Catalyst 3.9 (what's the hoopla about?)

Downloaded them for my VisionTek 9500Pro (was using the included VistionTek
drivers).

Deleted the old drivers, restarted, pointed XP to where I had unziped the
3.9's , they loaded no problems. Ran ReForce to set all refresh rates to 85
, rebooted, and no problems. Ran Jedi Academy to check, no artifacts, no
speed problems.

Maybe problems arise when trying to load drivers, -over- , already installed
drivers?

I just installed 3.9 without un-install or anything as I always do.
Everything works great, just like they always do. I never have had a
problem, am I am sure millions have found same to be true. I guess only the
one in a million problem makes it to the newsgroup. I bet most of the
complaints are caused by some other hardware or non ATI driver or software
problem. Been my experience that bad motherboards have caused all the
trouble I thought was due to video card.

That's been my experience as well. The only time I ever ran into problems
was when I uninstalled the old drivers first.

I've uninstalled the official and some 3rd party drivers, and tinkered
relentlessly with all of that having no adverse side effects (it was all in
an attempt to raise my frames in CS).

Hopefully, after this christmas I can give the official drivers a shot
again, or perhaps the third party drivers are updated, and fix my
counter-strike issues.
