Cat 6 cabling is the same thing as Cat 5. The only difference is that the
testing criteria are higher for Cat 6.

Thanks Matthew, but then why if I used Cat5 (Not Cat5 enhanced) cable to
connect a Gigabit NIC to a Gigabit Swith port I cannot get Gigabit speed but
only 10/100MB speed. The Manufacturer told me that I must use Cat5e or Cat6
cable to get gigabit speed.
Has to do with the twists per foot, cable construction, etc. Nothing to do
with the cable pinout.

Does this mean that if we wanted to change the NIC's in our servers to
Gigabit we would have to we wire the Cat cables from the servers to the
switches?

Yes it means you will have to replace ALL the wiring!
