Hi guys,

in order to get higher refresh rates, I've tried the ATI Refresh Rate
tool, which, almost as expected, didn't work - doh.

So, I searched for the Registry and modifed the parameters myself. In
my Windows 2000 SP4 I found the DALLargeDesktopModesBCD parameter in

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings

and

HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{4D36E968-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0001\Settings

and modified the 60Hz minimum frequency specified there to 85Hz. And it
worked, I now have 85Hz in N2k3 @ 1280x960x32 and in Lock On - Modern
Air Comabt (Lomac) I have 85Hz @ 1024x768x32, as intended.

However, IL2-FB, at the same 1024x768x32 resolution as Lomac, sticks
to 60Hz and I don't know why.

The fact that Lomac now runs at 85Hz shows that I've set this res to a
minimum of 85Hz, so where does IL2-FB get the 60Hz from? 60Hz shouldn't
even be an allowed frequency anymore at this resolution?

Can anyone shed some light on where I need to look to fix this? :)

TIA

Set the maximum refresh rate for the monitor in Control
Panel/Displays/Monitor if you haven't done so already.

OnK!

Another good and completely free utility for locking refersh rates in both
DirectX and OpenGL games (IL2 and IL2 Forgotten Battles both use OpenGL for
Radeon cards by default- although you can change it to DirectX in the Setup
menu in the Start Menu), is MutliRes from...

No need to bother with manually editing registry values. Use the program
refresh force. It's universally the answer to 60hz refresh problems in
2K/XP. Oh yah, and........ it works, unlike your previous experience.

I use RefreshForce, but haven't checked on my IL-2 refresh rate. I
know I get 85 in N2K3.

Thanks for all the help guys. In the end, I couldn't solve the IL2-FB
issue, but my other games now run at 100 Hz, that's very nice and I'm happy.

Thanks!

Achim
