things to say about the new 4.1 cats? worth updating ?

There is a review of them on firingsquad.com

I'm using the Omegas but they are based on 4.1. I still reckon that
image quality is up, helped by UT2003 tweaks posted here but framerate
seems to have gone down. However, I cannot notice any framerate
difference, so I'm not too concerned.

Try it. If you don't like it, swap back.

I was running cat 3.7 with my 9800 Pro.
Call of Duty crashed randomly.
Updated to 4.1's,and since then, no problems (touch wood).

That was a known problem fixed in Cat 3.9... you should have updated to the
962? patch which was a pre-3.9 release specifically fixing that problem!

Well, he said the crashes were with the 3.7's which are known to be stable
in CoD and all ogl games so the problem must have been with his driver
install. And the CoD fix was put out to fix the problems with 3.8 and 3.9,
and was actually the uncertified 3.10 drivers. I had crashes with the 3.9's
but the 3.10's have been perfect. The 3.7's had the 16 bit problem that
caused shit display when shell shocked or killed, and I also wasn't happy
with the 2d display with them. 2d 3.9 and 3.10 is good.

I update to Omega's version of 4.1 and there is a dramatic difference
especially in 2D. The 3.1's took longer for the computer to boot up.

Stable but crap. OK.

And the CoD problem was with VPU recover? (hence 3.8 and 3.9s affected)

Ben

It wasn't always VPU recover, hence the hot patch. I disabled vpu recvoer
and fast writes and still crashed. The 3.10's are fine. I'm not bothering
with the 4.1's
