Updated from 3.7 to 3.9 and now Call of duty won't start. "encountered
problem blah blah..."
tried every possible setting in the 3D tab but nothing worked.

Went back to 3.7 and all's well.

Ed, I have used 3.8 and now 3.9 with CoD and have had no problems. What type
of mainboard do you have? Have you updated the drivers lately?

Tehir all DUMBFUCKS, game does not work its the VIDEO DRIVERS yeah
right.

Never had a prob with a game not work, or demo.

Always keep my drivers upto date and all has been well.

DUMB ****S.

Brilliant grammar for one calling other people stupid. How about learning
how to write before you spout a bunch of unnecessary obscenities? I know I
probably shouldn't be feeding the troll ;-/

Cat 3.9 drivers have broken the opengl for all games if you have a AIW Card,
All in Wonder. Direct3d Works fine.

This is only if you have a AIW card. If you have a normal radeon than opengl
should work in cat 3.9.
Cat 3.8 should work fine with AIW cards though.

Hey.
Uninstall Driver and controll panel. Search for ati in the windows catalog
and remove everything u find. Then install 3.9 and it will be ok. Works 100%
here in Xp.

But do you have a AIW Radeon Card? or a regular Radeon? Ive been reading
over at rage3d that opengl is broken for all AIW cards in cat 3.9.

I have 9800Pro, no AIW but had the same ogl problems and COD would not start
before i removed everyting that was ati stuff from my win catalog.
When i "reloaded" the 3.9 it was ok, had the same problem with 3.8`s.

Same problem. I believe opengl32.dll (8/29/2002 in XP Pro SP1) is incompatible
with this driver. I also have an AIW card.

Hi,yes I have an AIW 9700.
My mainboard is an Abit IC7-G. Newest BIOS and everything has newest drivers
except the 9700(which I set back to 3.7)
I'm using WinXP Pro and i have SP1 installed too.
Sounds like I'm not alone. Thanks for the replies everyone.

Erik,

Apologies for being thick - what do you mean by the Windows catalog
(registry?) and how would I search it for ATI. I'm having probs with COD
too with a non-AIW 9600 Pro and 3.9's. My COD starts fine but freezes a
minute or two into the game. Had the same issue with 3.8 and went back to
3.7 where everything was fine.

Thanbks, Shawk

Jepp i mean registry, easyer for newbees with win catalog :-)
Turn off Fast Write in Ati controll panel and trilinear in game options and
it will work.

Thanks Eric,

However while waiting to pick up your reply I loaded the latest VIA 4in1's
from Via Arena and reloaded DX9.0b. I didnt touch anything else (ie first
install of 3.9s left as it was). Call of Duty has now been working for
about 1/2 hr with no probs. Fast writes and high detail still all enabled.
I'll keep testing and let you know (no hardship - I really like this game)
:-)

Thanks, Shawk.

No problem buddy :-) The game really rocks, one of the best games i ever
played.
I litte to "Quakish" compeared to Americas Army but still great fun.

Well... still playing hard and its as solid as a rock. Game is great,
graphics are good (high details, trilinear etc - water on the dam level is
probably about the best I've seen - fps high enough for the action to be
bloody manic!!).

Win XP Pro SP1
A7V8X (Via 4in 1's v4.9)
Xp2100+ (palamino)
Sapphire 9600 Pro Atlantis with Cat 3.9's
