The only OS on my computer is Windows XP Professional. I
want to wipe my hard disk clean, I want to start over.
I've already contacted MS Support and they said this was
okay, that I would still need to contact the Activitation
Center for my new code when I reach that point in
uploading this OS.

When I load my floppy it recognizes the NT status of XP
Professional and will not allow me to run my "wipedrv"
floppy. It said that I needed to perform this task from
either Windows 95 or 98. When I went to load those disk
the system would not allow me to perform this task as
well. PLEASE provide me with the steps I need to follow
to totally wipe my hard drive clean, I want to start
over. I called your support line and they said the wait
was 65 minutes, so thats the reason for this email.

Thank you very much in advance for helping me get through
this. I've had this OS on my computer for over a month and
I'm still not able to load games, get my sound system to
operate, my cursor freezes on me without an error message
which means I'm having to reboot over and over again. I
JUST WANT TO START OVER.

If someone has the time to call me at work this morning I
can be reached at (206) 979-1593; my email address is
(e-mail address removed)

Thank you,
Total Frustrated,
Jim

The Windows XP install disk is bootable from your CD-ROM drive (if set as
first boot device in your BIOS). All utilities for formatting, partitioning
and re-installing are on that disk. And unless you've changed your
motherboard and/or hard disk you shouldn't have to contact MS for activation
either...just use your product key on the original XP packaging.

Jim,

I can understand your frustration, especially with the long wait times
calling Microsoft lately. These newsgroups do not go directly to Microsoft.
The people that reply are kind souls that are giving their time to assist
others that are having problems. Now on that note I know that a number of
Support Personnel at Microsoft do read these newsgroups and do reply... so
keep that in mind and continue posting here. The next time you post, you
should NOT include your email address, phone number or case number. The
spammers love getting valid email addresses.

If you continue to have problems just post back here and someone will help
you I'm sure.
