Case fan speed will not show up in pc health

Installed a new case fan. Did not have one before, reason
being going to up my graphics card. Installed fan and
pluged into mboard,VIAP4X mainboard. Started up, went
into setup, pc health to check fan speed and it does not
read. Do I have to change something to get it to read?
Please help. I tried just running off the board and also
tried the jumper that comes with it to run directly. thanx
 
Windows XP does not natively display fan speeds. You'll need to install
a third-party program if you wish to monitor fan speeds. An excellent,
free program is AIDA32 - Personal System Information

It does on the cpu fan speed and listed right bellow it
is the case fan speed. why does the cpu show up and not
the case? also I looked at that download and what am I
suppose to down load if any out of that?

As Carey stated, this isn't native to XP - this would be an applet installed
by your system manufacturer. if you need assistance on how to use it - or
interpret the data - then I suggest you contact them directly.

also I looked at that download and what am I suppose to down load if any out
of that?

Does the new case fan have feedback? If there are only two wires to the fan
you can't get the speed. Also the connector on the MB that you are plugging
the fan into must be capable of reading the fan speed. Check the manual for
your motherboard, it will give info on this.
