Not sure if this is the right place for this, if not please tell me where to
go ( and not to H3LL, lol, been there-done that, got sunburned ta boot).
I have an Athlon AMD 2500+ processor on a AU13 motherboard.
I installed all in a Enermax CS-3071-B3A case. I'm running Win XP Pro.

I have gone to both site trying to find out HOW to get my mic to work.
The case has front hook up for headset and mic, I can get sound from
headset,
but no sound form mic. I ran Win voice setup it detected hardware, but no
results
when doing sound test. This is from the front hook up AND the back hook up.
I found if I SCREAMED, the little gauge would go up, but I should have to
scream
into the mic to get sound.

At first I thought it could be my headset, so I bought a new one, I even
tried with a plain mic.
Results were the same...no sound.

Could someone PLEASE tell what I'm doing wrong here.

Thanks!

Lynn

Hi Lynn -

Check the Volume Control settings for your microphone.

Is the Microphone control muted. Probably not if you get some sound through
by shouting (but worth a try).

Is the volume slider on the Microphone set too low?

Also, in your Volume Control settings, is there an Advanced button under the
slider for your Microphone's volume control?

The Volume Control on my laptop computer has such a button and one of the
options is "+20 Db Up" - putting a check in the box makes it possible to
use my headset microphone without having to shout.

This, of course, depends on the driver for your sound card (or integrated
sound chip).

I forgot to mention what sound card I am using.
It's a NVIDIA nForce.
I checked the volume for mic in every spot I could find and put it up to
maximum.
One thing, on the web site of the Enermax Case, it says NOT to hook up the
"mic power" wire.
So all I hooked up is the mic and the ground. BUT I think the first time
around I had it hooked
up so that may not be the problem. Regardless, the mic in the back doesn't
work either.
Thought I'd add this extra info.
Here's the link to that site in case I might be reading it wrong
http://www.enermax.com.tw/faq.htm I'm looking under the P4B, ......
Well that could be my problem too, that's NOT the right schematic, it's for
a Cs-317, NOT a CS-3071-B3A.
Uhhhh, anybody have those schematics?
I found another site and will email them to see if they can get me the right
hook ups.
I might just do with out, although I was going to get the software that type
while you talked.

Thanks!

Easy one to fix Lynn!

You have to go into your audio properties (start/control panel/sounds
speech.../sounds and audio...

Click on the top audio tab. Set the default "sound playback" for Nvidia
nForce Audio! Click apply. Turn down your volume a bit as you now probably
have it very high.

Then go to the voice tab and set your recording device for your microphone.
Then press the test hardware "radio button". Do the tests.

Reboot and give everything a try!
