Cartesian Coordinate System

Hello, all

Excel 200

I am making a Cartesian, or rectangular coordinate system and cannot get the graph to accept any value to the left of the "Y" axis. Quadrants 2 and 3 return a "nonnumeric value error;" even though they have a number that is negative. Quadrant 3 is especially tough because it is a negative/negative number

Thanks

If you're trying to plot XY pairs, use a scatter plot with
the X- and Y-data as your chart source. This works dandy
for trig function plots using all four quadrants. The X-
axis will be defined by the range of x-values, and
similalrly for the y-axis. The axes cross at 0,0 by
default.

Hi!

If Excel says your data is non-numeric, chances are it is. So why
Where does it come from? Have you checked if it behaves like tex
rather than numbers?

Hi back! :)

Thanks to all who responded! I found the answer, and you are very close. I had the X-Y columns to insert the data, set to numbers. It has to be set to general. Why, I dont know, but all 4 quads work like a champ now.

BTW, I found that answer by going to the Andy Pope site that I keep seeing posted in here, and checking one of his scatter charts. Great site! Thanks Andy, if you are Andy; that could be an arbitrary name. No offense intended. :

Again, thanks to all!
