Card Reader - Safely Remove Hardware

I use a multi-format card reader connected through the USB port. When the
reader and a card are plugged in, the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon displays
in the system tray. I frequently need to read several cards of a similar or
different format at one sitting. Before removing a card I understand I
should go through the Safely Remove Hardware routine to flush the read /.
write buffers; however, when I do this it de-activates the card reader, so I
have to unplug / replug the reader each time I change cards. Is there a
safe, Bill Gates-approved way to change cards without going through all
this?

Thanks for any help.

Personally instead of using "Safely Remove Hardware" I right click the
drive(card) I want to remove and click eject. This should ensure all
read/writes are complete without removing the entire reader.

Don't use the Safely Remove Hardware when you pull the card out.

Find the drive in Windows Explorer
Right click & select Properties
Select the Hardware tab
Select the appropriate drive
Click on the Properties button
Select Policies tab
Check Optimize for Quick Removal

This turns off the write buffer
