Hi

My PC has just come back from MESH (or MESS or Cock up)

When it went the "My computer" had icons for all the card reader sockets. Now it hasn't got icons for any of them, and I can't find reference to them anywhere.

How do I get them back - i want to use my CF cards!

Thanks in advance

Edward

Thanks for that - I figured...

Problem is, I don't know what they are called so how do I know which ones to re-install?

Just out of interest, have you tried inserting a card in the reader to see if it pops up in "My Computer".

Sometimes, the drives dont appear until the first time you have used it.

Card readers dont usually require drivers.

If you are running windows xp try restarting tapping f-8 and load "last known good configuration" this may bring the drivers back to which they were.
If that doesn't work then try to remove and reinstall drivers. They are located in device manager and are usaslly listed as storage devices, or mass storage device. If you cannot figure it out, can't locate them try to reinstall the motherboard resources. and restart into BIOS reload the default config. (restart tap f-1, tap f-5 to load default settings, then f-10 to save and exit).

Is there any devices in Device manager listed with Yellow or Red signs. It may be listed as unknown devices (If drivers are not present). You might need to click on update drivers and see if they find the drivers online (connect to internet first) else the only option is to arrange a drivers CD for that card reader and install drivers from that CD.

Edward,

I know much time has passed since you posted this, but I suffered the same problem (with my Mesh computer!). How did you eventually resolve this problem? I presume (because you used a disc) that you are running windows 98?

Regards

Paul
