Capturing wrong size video

I am using movie maker (don't know if 1 or 2 but it does say I have service
pack II on installation CD.) to copy VHS tapes to a DVD. It worked OK for a
while but now when it copies the VHS tape, the video picture is long and
narrow. Any ideas how to get the right size or do I have a hardware problem?

I'm having the same problem. My video appears normal on my DV recorder,
but when I download it using Moviemaker, it appears distorted and elongated.

At first I thought that was just a display issue. But when I copied the
video to my computer as an .avi file, it still displays (in Media
Player) in the same, distorted and elongated format.

If you figure out how to stop this ... let me know.

Thanks
