Capturing video

I have a brand new Panasonic PV-GS12 digital video camera. I can't figure
out how to capture from it to my (likewise brand new) Dell Dimension 4700
with Windows XP Professional and Windows Movie Maker on it.

I am using a USB cable as I lack a firewire port (sadly). Windows
MovieMaker gives me a "I don't detect a media device" sort of an error
message when I try to capture.

Does anyone know what I should be doing differently?

Thanks.
