Have been happily capturing video from my VCR into WMM and burning to DVD.
All of a sudden the video wont capture but the audio does. The video comes up
in the preview screen in WMM. Leads and connections all seem fine. Thanks to
all those whose previous help has been invaluable.

Hello,

Have you installed any new software, or updated something not necessarily
related to Movie Maker??

What method of connecting your VCR to the computer are you using?

Nothing new has been installed. I connect using s video cable and high
quality audio leads. One day all was well and then nothing. Any advice
welcome.
Thanks Troy

Hello,

Its a puzzler that's for sure.

As you are using S-Video are you plugging that directly into your Graphics Card
(something I used to do) or are you using a device that converts to
digital....what I'm getting at is, is the device something that is an integral
part of your computer or is it outside the computer.

If internal have you taken a look at the Device Manager (Right click My
Computer > Manage > Device Manager) you will be looking for your device
primarily, there may be a coloured Icon next to its name...clicking on its
properties will probably give us the info we need to solve your issue

If its an external device I am not going to be able to help very much except to
comment on how is it connected to the computer, to what kind of port and is
that port still active and without errors...look at the device manager again

John,

I am connecting directly to the computer. I will try your tips once I am
back from work and let you know how that goes. Thanks again.

John,

When I bought the dell it came with the Dell Movie Studio Bundle. If you
know the system I connect from the VCR into a sort of junction box which in
turn connects to the computer. I have found WMM a better system to copy, edit
and burn than Roxio. Is there a better way? Have not had any problems and
checked and all devices are working and all leads are brand new. Hope this
helps. Thanks

Hello,
ok, which software is best is somewhat academic at the moment.

With regards to the subject of this thread....It is still not clear what type
of device you are connecting too but I guess it is some kind of converter. You
do not say what device within the computer the junction box is connected
to...is it a USB port or Firewire or something else....a serial port or even a
paralel port. Who makes this junction box...does it have a name or model
number.

You are going to have to supply a bit more information instead of vague
references to a junction box, that tells me nothing at all...sorry...I think
that this is now the 4th time of asking for some specifics.....
