Hello.
I am new to Windows Movie Maker.

when I tried to capture the video from my Panasonic PVDV 1020, it kept
telling me that it couldn't detect the camera.

This camera is 4-5 years old, and my guess is that I need some kind of
software update to make my camera compatable with windows movie maker. I
loaded the software that came with the camera, but that didn't do it. I have
XP as my operating system.

How do i get my device recognized by MM so i can capture video?

Thanks.

I can't find the cm witha quick google search so you'll have to tell us, is
it analogue? If so it won't work. Digital? If so connect by firewire.

Thanks for trying to answer my question, but it didn't help. My camera is
indeed digital and I was hooked up by fire wire. The program still wouldn't
recognize the camera. In my experience with digital video editing, the
hardest part is often getting the computer program to "recognize" the video
capture device. I do not know what you mean by "cm" so I do not know what
you were looking for on your google search.
