I have a Nikon digital camera with video capability. I connect the camera
directly to my USB port, but when I click on "Capture Video" in moviemaker, I
get a message saying there is not capture device found.

Any ideas? Thanks (again)

Your camera is not supported. Use the software that came with the camera to
d/l the video to your computer.

I think you'll find that your Nikon creates
video files in the .mov format. These files
are not compatible with Movie Maker.

You'll have to download the files to your
hard drive and convert them to a supported
format.

(.asf, .avi, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe,
..mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, and .wmv )

..avi would be a good choice.

Here's some info on converting:

Hi, my video camera produces asf but when I import them into Movie Maker they
don't display in the preview pane. Do you have any thought as to why this is
so? Hope you can help out. Cheers, Suzanne

Hi Bobby,

I did use the camera program to initially download to my hard drive. It's
when I then import the clips into MM that I seem to have problems.
Everything goes well until I drag the clip into the storyboard and press
play. I can't see anything. Hope this makes sense. I hope there is a
solution.

Hey Bobby -
I am having a similar problem.

I have a HD camera that outputs AVI files. I have a brand new Vista 64bit
box and have successfully loaded output from this camera before.

All of a sudden, when I import the files to MM - they contain only the audio
when in the past they were OK. I have not changed any settings.

Any thoughts? Is there a setting to not load the video someplace that I
might have inadvertently turned off or on?
