Hi,
I have just captured some vid from my jvc dv camera to my pc and then burnt
it onto a dvd. The quality is not as good (grainy) as when i connected the
camera direct to my TV. Should there be any loss in quality? I thought that
digital through firewire to pc was lossless. I captured with mm2 using
dv-avi setting.
Thank you in advance

If you connect via firewire and capture to a DV-AVI file then the quality
should be as it is when you connect the camera to the TV. If it isn't then
there are a lot of possible reasons as to why.
How does the DV-AVI file look when viewing on your computer?
If it looks good then it is likely a problem with either the DVD Authoring
software or with the disc itself if not a problem with your home DVD player.
If it doesn't look good then it is likely a problem with either the firewire
cable or card or possibly both. Or it could be a problem with system
resources. To fix this you can try a different cable or a friends computer
to see if it is better on their computer. As far as resources go check out
this webpage by Graham on optimizing your system for video capture:

Hope this helps
