Thanks, all, for showing me how to print the styles within a document (see 11/7 exchange titled "List of all Styles used and their specifications in XP). This gave what I want in terms of the styles; however, I want to capture this information into a separate Word document for on-line reference purposes. How do I do that? Thanks.

You can take styles you created in one document and copy them into another document (or template) via the Normal Ttemplate. To do this, open the document that has the styles you want, click Format > Style > Organizer, click on the style name you want (left box), and click the copy button. The arrows on the copy button will be facing a box (on the right) that says (To Normal). This copies it onto your Normal Template. Then go into the document to where you want to copy the style, and click on Format > Style > Organizer. Click the style you want that is now in your Normal Template (right box again)and click the copy button. The arrows on the copy button will be facing the box of the document to where you want to copy the style (left box). The style will now appear in the style menu of the new document.

If a picture would do, you could print to a fax driver or screen capture app
such as SnagIt.

Hi Dale

You might try the following. File > Print. In the printer Name box,
choose Generic / Text only (or if that doesn't exist, install a
text-only printer). Tick the Print to File box. In the Print what box,
choose Styles. Click OK to "print" to a file. Word will prompt you for
the name of a file and will "print" to that file name. Since you chose a
generic or text printer only, it will just print the text (and won't
include any instructions to the printer). You can then open that
document in Word and make any necessary changes to layout or formatting.

Hope this helps.
