I am trying to download films from my camcorder. I am using Iee94 firewire
card and the program recognises the input source as DV camcorder. I give the
file a name and destination to save but get a response of :- Capturing
Profiles cannot be found. It has worked before, so I don't know what the
problem is. Can anyone Help before I go mad.
Thanks

You should be OK if you opt to capture it as a DV-AVI file.

If you choose to capture it as a WMV file, then you need to be attached to
the internet at the time so Movie Maker can automatically get any new codec
needed. If you want to download and install the full pack of profiles,
there's a link on the Setup > Other Software page of my site.

Bizarre.

Can you check/try the following?

1. Confirm that your setup hasn't gotten hosed -- all of your Movie Maker
binary files should be the same version number:
For MM2.0, you should have version 2.0.3312.0
For MM2.1, you should have version 2.1.4026.0
The binaries are: moviemk.exe, wmm2filt.dll, wmm2ext.dll, wmm2filt.dll,
wmm2fxa.dll, wmm2fxb.dll, wmm2ae.dll, wmm2eres.dll, wmm2res.dll -- some of
these may live in the "shared" directory under "c:\program files\movie
maker".

2. Reinstall the Windows Media Format SDK, or Install the Windows Media
Encoder:
If something's broken with your install of the Windows Media Format SDK
(preventing the profiles from loading), this would be the fastest way to
reinstall it:

Let me know if this is useful...
