How do I know if my computer is equiped with a movie capture card?

If using XP Pro (not sure if Home is slightly different) go to Control Panel,
clcik on Network Connections, look for a "1394 connection" or "1394 network
adapter", and check that it says "enabled".
Then, look round the back of the case (probably, although it might just be
on the front on some models) and look for an unused connection port a little
less than 1/2" wide and 1/4" thick. There might be two side by side. Get
yourself a Firewire (IEEE1394) cable, connect to camera, and away you go.
Well, that's the theory. Browse this newsgroup to see what may actually
happen, in practice!!
