capturing images from medical equipment

Does anyone know how to recognise the image capture signal from a
medical scope such as a video colonoscope? I've got video streaming
from the scope to the computer but want my app to recognise when the
scopes image capture button is pressed, rather than have to capture
the image by pressing a button in my app.

Thanks in advance

This is not an application issue, it is more a hardware question.
The first question is what kind of connection does the scope use?
Serial port, USB?

Thanks for the reply Dave. The scope connects to the manufacturers
box that controls video but I'm not sure what the connection type is.
There is a video out port on the box and I simply run a composite
video cable from the video out port to a video capture card to receive
video. I'm hoping there is some sort of signal that can be recognised
when the capture button is pressed on the scope. I know this may be
more of an electrical engineering type queston but I know buggerall
about that and am hoping one of us programmers has done something like
this before.

Thanks.
