Capturing from Analog device

When attempting to capture video from my analog camcorder the view in the monitor of windows movie maker is of very poor quality and the image does not occupy the whole monitor(the top of the video is missing). The playback from my camcorder is perfect. How is this problem remedied.
 
What analog capture device are you using? and what's your camcorder brand
and model?
