Capturing Audio

I'm new at this. I love the way my Panasonic DV camera works with Windows
Movie Maker. I'd like to capture audio I record as well. Is there a recording
device out there that works as seemlessly as the camera does? Or should I use
another program to capture and edit sound tracks that I then combine with the
movie I make in Movie Maker?

I use my camcorder as an audio recorder at times.... an imported clip moved
to the audio track of the timeline will save to a WMA audio file if there's
nothing on the video track. DV-AVI and WMV files can be put on the audio
track instead of the video and Movie Maker will treat them as audio-only
files.
