While browsing the web I run into some audio and little videos
that I would like to download. I know these are not going to be
available for long. Could you please tell me how I can get them to
my HD?

If this is not the right group for this sort of question, please
tell me where I should go for help.

Thanks a million. - g.

Assuming an emphasis on video rather than audio:

Well, I did not check the other international newsgroups. I'd expect proper
ones to start with "alt" or "rec", and have "video" in their name or
description.

If simply selecting "Save as.." from a context menu (let alone "Download")
is no option, then that content may not be intended for download.

You might want to look at the products at http://applian.com/
Replay Screencast records any flow, WM Recorder and RM Recorder download the
files that are being streamed, at whatever speed they can download them.

They are called "easy-to-use", and they are - but you must accept some
initial confusion as to what is happening. (Seeing double or doing double?)

Obviously, you need some broadband Internet connection and disk space.

For those who understand Dutch, http://www.uitzendinggemist.nl/ is a great
source of material to try the software with.

If you can right-click to save them to your browser, do so.

If they are streaming only (ie play like a TV or radio broadcast), then
you need to look for a "streaming video recorder" or "streaming audio
recorder".

Thank you, Chris and Mike. You have pointed me in the right
direction and it seems that I have some reading to do. I
appreciate your help.
Cheers, -g.
