Help...I'm new to this process.
How can I capture a video from a Panasonic DMC-FX01 with Lumix Simple Viewer
software to Movie Maker? I get a "no device connected"prompt when
trying to imput a video.
Thanks.......Bill

Thanks John....
I will have a friend help me get through this procedure. I may need to get
back to you if we hit a snag.
Later....Bill

I probably will.

I have a similar problem as Bill. I have a Canon S5IS. When I download the
video it is formatted in an avi file.
Trouble is the avi files are sooo large (89.6mb) for a 1.30 minute video.
I'd like to share the videos with friends and family.
I read on another site to Load the file into Windows Movie Maker and save it
back out as Windows Media File.
I get an error (no device connected) when I try to capture the video. I
assume it is not compatable...
Please advise if you have other advice..

thnx

Did you copy the .avi file to a folder
on your hard drive before attempting
to import it into Movie Maker?

Another alternative would be to upload
your .avi file to the following site and
send your recipients the download link.

"YouSendIt"
http://www.yousendit.com/

All you have to do is enter an e-mail
address in the "To:" (Recipient) field
and click the "Browse" button to select
the file you wish to upload. Then click
the "Send It" button.

The next screen that appears will give
you the download link. Just copy/paste
it into the message to your recipients
who can download and view the file on
their computer.

Seems to me that a site like YouSendIt
would be your best bet...

Anyway...more details might help solve
the issue.

OK...so the file is saved in a folder on
your hard drive and that is where you
tried to import it from?

When you say "tried to import the file"
does that mean you could not import
the file? What happens? Errors?

What exactly do you mean when you
say you "Couldn't save it as a .wmv file" ?

Did you save as follows?

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

YES
When you say "tried to import the file"

I CLICKED ON "IMPORT VIDEO"; HIGHLIGHTED THE VIDEO AND CLICKED "IMPORT"

THERE ARE 2 SAVE OPTIONS; "SAVE PROJECT" AND "SAVE PROJECT AS"
THE ONLY TYPE TO SAVE IN IS .MSWMM
Did you save as follows?

To save as a .wmv movie file...
Type...Ctrl+P to open the Save Movie Wizard /
NOTHING HAPPENS WHEN I HIT THE CTRL+P KEYS IN MOVIE MAKER; IN OTHER PROGRAMS
THIS IS THE PRINT FUNCTION

You must be on a dialup connection...
maybe it's not a good idea after all.

To create a .wmv movie file.....

If you cannot use Ctrl+P just go to...
File / "Save Movie File"...

Now follow these steps:

Choose...My Computer /
Next /
Enter a Name and a Save Location /
Next /
Tick...'Best Quality For My Computer'
Next/
Wait while the movie is saved /
Finish...

I guess anything is possible but I've
never seen a report that the Save
Movie File option was missing.

I totally give up.

I hope someone else can help you.
