..
I went to the Total Recorder website and downloaded the trial version and it
sounds good when capturing streaming audio.
I am willing to buy the retail version but I have a few questions and I
cannot
see how the trial version or the Help there can answer me. Does anyone
reading this use Total Recorder?

1. Where can I Name the song?
2. Where does it store the song?
3. How can I verify that it captured it as a MP3 file? I did set it for MP3.

Many of the items in the dropdown windows are greyed out. Is that only in
the trial version?

Thanks a lot for your advice and help.

Tags or simply file name ?

Look in the Options section of one of the menus

Once you've found where it stores the files, go there in Windows Explorer
and run your mouse over the file. It should have the extension .mp3 if thats
what you chose.

Yes

Thanks a lot for your advice and help.

You're welcome.

BTW, you can use Audacity to catch streaming audio, if your sound card has
the option to record "what you hear". Its freeware.

Thanks for the fine feedback and the help. I also went to Audacity and
downlaoded the recorder there. It looks very good maybe as good as Total
Recorder or better.

I have a question now. How do I import (if that is the right word here) the
file from My Documents etc into Itunes so I can play it on the IPOD?

Simple. Note where Audacity stores the file. Fire up iTunes, then select Add
File(s) to Library (I think) or Add Files to Playlist whatever. Navigate to
where the file is and then highlight it. iT=unes should then remember the
location and next time you sync your device will upload it.

Thanks for all the good advice. First let me answer a question you had.
I just want to NAME a song. I do not even know what TAGS are and how I would
use them. I stand open for enlightenment.

I downloaded Audacity and it works fine to record, except it does not SAVE
AS in MP3 format, as far as I can see.

Use this to name / tag an mp3. The tag is what will give the information to
an mp3 player - Title, by whom, album name etc.

,Well, I do not know what is wrong. I had the file as a .wav file 21.5 MB,
then I downloaded a converter to MP3 and it says that it IS converting to
MP3 but now the same file is 21.3 MB. Something is not working, but I wish I
know what.
