Capture from camcoder heavily distorted

With: Win XP home edition. Fire wire card. JVC GR-DVX4 camcoder.

The movies captured through MM appear with a distortion in the shape of
stripes that are made of colorful tiny squares.

Any ideas?

What quality/format are you saving your movies in? If you
are using the recommended, the movies sometimes come out
bad. I prefer using DV-AVI to save movies from your
camera onto your computer.
